Narendra Modi meets superstar Rajinikanth in Chennai

Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi met superstar Rajinikanth at his residence in Chennai on Sunday evening.

Mr Modi is scheduled to address an election rally in the city. Speculation is rife that Mr Modi could seek the superstar’s endorsement for the Lok Sabha elections. According to opinion polls, BJP would not fare well in Tamil Nadu.

Nagma to showcase Congress

Now the Congress high command has brought  a new strategy onto play, that is to start campaigning with cine and cricket stars. In Telangana region the Congress seems not to be as strong as expected after the bifurcation of the state. So, the high command has decided to launch stars into the election campaign in Telangana region so as to influence  the voters.  The expected stars were Nagma, one of the sizzling heroine in Tollywood and Azharuddin, the star cricket player who hails from Hyderabad. The two stars are expected to reach Hyderabad and campaign in support of Congress party. Nagma is not willing to campaign anywhere because of the misbehaviour of people with her in the previous campaigning sessions. But the high command has forced her to be a part of it because Nagma has a good following in the Tollywood industry. Even Azharuddin who has been a star cricketer can be influential in getting the Muslim vote bank to a certain extent the  high command thought. So, let's watch what would happen. Balaiah 'pushes' Harikrishna back..!!

TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu declared the candidature of his brother-in-law, actor Nandamuri Balakrishna from the Hindupur Assembly segment, earlier represented by TD founder late N.T. Rama Rao and Harikrishna. However, Nandamuri Harikrishna who made a formal request to Mr Naidu to consider his name for Hindupur Assembly was rejected by the TDP chief. Hindupur, in Anantapur district, has been a TDP stronghold since 1983. Mr Naidu announced the candidature of Mr Balakrishna at his residence in the presence of TDP sitting MLA from Hindupur, Mr Abdul Gani, who supported the decision. However, in the second list of candidates for Seemandhra Lok Sabha and Assembly seats announced on Saturday morning, Mr Naidu did a balancing act by rejecting renomination of Dasari Balavardhana Rao, the sitting MLA from Gannavaram, a known supporter of Mr Balakrishna. Instead, he selected Vallabhaneni Vamsi, a strong supporter of actor Jr NTR. But Mr Naidu promised to accommodate Mr Balavardhana Rao as chairman of Krishna Dairy Development Federation, considered to be a powerful body in Krishna district. The TDP president also rejected renomination of sitting MP from Narasaraopet, Mr Modugula Venugopal Reddy, in favour of five-time Congress MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao. It is learnt that Mr Venugopal Reddy will be given a ticket from one of the segments in Guntur. Of the six Lok Sabha candidates, five are new entrants in the party. Former Congress minister J.C Diwakara Reddy has been given Anantapur Lok Sabha seat, while others are Adala Prabhakara Reddy (Nellore), Reddivari Srinivasulu Reddy (Kadapa), Galla Jayadev (Guntur). Actor Muralimohan, a senior leader of Telugu Desam has been offered Rajahmundry seat again. Of the 40 Assembly candidates announced, a majority are sitting TD MLAs. J.C. Prabhakara Reddy, brother of Mr Diwakara Reddy, is the TD nominee from Tadipatri Assembly segment. Former Congress ministers G. Kutuhalamma (G.D. Nellore), Galla Aruna Kumari (Chandragiri) are also the party nominees. MLC Satish Reddy who has been defeated thrice by late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy from the same segment has been fielded to take on Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Case filed against Jayaprada

The Uttar Pradesh police had filed a case against actress turned politician Jayapradha for violating election code of conduct by hold a secret meeting with RLD leaders in Bijnor constituency from which she is contesting Lok-Sabha elections.  Jayapradha was holding a meeting in connection with an attack on her convey by a group of people while she was campaigning in the Bijnor consituencys when the attack took place. Balayya’s political plans cancelled?

Nandamuri Balakrishna is a very integral part of the Telugu Desam Party and from the last few months it was clearly being stated that he is going to be part of the 2014 elections as a contestant. Though he is busy with the shooting of his film ‘Legend’ right now, his political entry looked confirmed. But now a news has arrived. According to reports, Balayya is not that keen to contest for a seat and he would just take part in the canvassing. Instead, it is heard that Balayya is going to start a new film and this will be under the direction of Veeru Potla who made ‘Doosukeltha’ recently. If this is true then it has to be seen how the Nandamuri fans will receive it. At the same time, if ‘Legend’ results in a big hit then it will boost the confidence of Balayya to do more films and regain his box office status. But his absence from the front of the TDP may result in some worries for the party. Let us see what happens.
