ROJA SUSPENDED FROM HOUSE FOR ONE YEAR

In a day of dramatic developments in the AP legislative assembly, Speaker Kodela Sivaprasad suspended YSRCP MLA RK Roja from the house for one year.

Finance and Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu moved a resolution saying that she has used unparliamentary words against the chief minister. The resolution was passed by a voice vote.
YSRCP members strongly objected to the suspension and said the decision was undemocratic. Angry YSRCP members trooped into the well to object and asked why was no action being taken when the YSRCP members were being abused by no less a person than the chief minister himself. TDP GOVERNMENT IGNORES SHOBHA NAGIREDDY

The Telugu Desam Government has kicked up a storm of controversy when the legislative affairs committee’s agenda had provisions for paying homage to Nandigama’s TDP MLA Tangirala Prabhakar, who died recently and ignored Allagadda MLA from the YSRCP Shobha Nagireddy, who died before the elections, but was declared elected posthumously.

YSRCP MLAs, who met on Wednesday, took up this issue and demanded that Shobha Nagireddy’s name too be included for obituary reference. YSRCP MLAs Bhuma Nagireddy and Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy strongly criticized the government for the partisan attitude. A truncated Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly will meet on Thursday for the first time after the separation of Telangana. The members will be sworn in first by protem speaker P Narayana Swami. Later, the house will pay homage to the departed MLAs.

The speaker would be elected on June 20 and the Governor will address the joint session of both the assembly and the council on June 21. The house would debate the motion of thanks to the governor on June 23 and 24.

Adequate security arrangements have been made for the assembly elections. Some 1200 police would be deployed during the session.

Jagan Mohan Reddy calls for introspection

The three-day review meet of YSR Congress pertaining to North Coastal Andhra and the Godavari districts started at the R and B guest house on Wednesday. Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy presided over the meet. As far as East Godavari is concerned, the review was conducted for five Assembly segments of Tuni and Prathipadu  Peddapuram in upland areas of the district and Kakinada rural and Amalapuram. A few leaders of Tuni expressed fear over some sort of harassment by the Telugu Desam as the latter was now in power. Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, however, allayed their fear and assured them that he wou-ld stand by them, not only in the segments but also at the state level.

Several leaders brought to the notice of the leadership the issues that led to party’s debacle. According to them, the party’s chances were badly affected due to overconfidence about the party’s win in the polls at the state level, assurances by TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu on loan waiver to farmers and women SHGs, intensive campaigning in favour of the TD-BJP combine by actor Pawan Kalyan and the Narendra Modi factor.

Mr Reddy gave a patient hearing to each of the leaders who spoke on poll issues segment-wise. He also reviewed the votes polled party-wise in ZP.

Naidu alleges YSR Congress-Congress match-fixing

Hours after YS Jaganmohan Reddy was granted bail in the disproportionate case, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday alleged a “match-fixing” between YSR Congress and Congress.
“The way bail was granted to him and the manner in which the charge sheet against him was diluted only show that there is a clear understanding between YSR Congress and Congress,” he told reporters here.
He claimed the CBI described before the Supreme Court the disproportionate assets case against Jagan as a major case of crime. “This only shows that Congress is trying to influence parties in Andhra Pradesh. On the one hand they are delaying a decision on the future of Andhra Pradesh for the past four years, and on the other they are trying to influence parties,” Naidu said.
He also criticised Digvijay Singh for his remarks that Congress was open to TRS merging with it. “Is it justified,” he quipped.
He accused UPA government for the various scams and said his party will make it a “national issue”.
Naidu skirted posers on the possibility of TDP joining NDA. Asked why Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi praised him in Hyderabad, he said Modi praised TDP founder NT Rama Rao. “Everybody praises NT Rama Rao,” he said.
